Comprehensive win gets 2010 off to cracking start U13
U13 : vs Worcester (A) Worcester 0 - 70 Bredon Sun 07-Feb-2010

Being the first game since the enforced lengthy break, it was hard to be sure how things would go or which way the game would swing. Head coach Ian Fenney was blunt in his instructions before the game, making it quite clear that he was expecting nothing less than a convincing win. And boy did he get what he asked for!

Bredon established their dominance in the first few seconds, as the opening kick-off was received and run back through the Worcester lines to score the first try in under a minute. From that point on there was no looking back, as Bredon continued to make break after break with Worcester seemingly unable to find any way to respond. Twelve tries and five conversions later the final whistle blew with Bredon amassing 70 points and giving none away.

The game could have been less one-sided than the scoreline suggests. The Worcester scrum looked solid, line-outs came out pretty much 50-50, and there were the usual wrestling matches in the mauls, but Bredon's continual blitz defence gave Worcester little room for manoeuvre. Even when ball was won, Worcester seemed unable to gain ground and certainly were allowed no opportunity to score.

Bredon's pack scrapped for every loose ball, and the backs rang the changes with ball in hand, switching from blind to open side to gain ground and making occasional good use of the boot. In the end the presence of eight names on the score sheet is a testament to how well the whole team performed.

Tries: Morgan Bottrill (4), Matt Manns, Dominic Trowbridge, Tom Waller (2), Paddy Milton (2), Matt Hopper, Matt Peters.
Conversions: Tim Fenney (4), Matt Hopper.
